Hills. They can humble you. They can break you.
They can also make you stronger and faster. Today on
Endurance Planet we hear an audio excerpt from the
Breakaway Publishing book, "The Quotable Runner."
This chapter is simply entitled "Hills."

This week's Breakaway Friday deals with teenagers,
motivation, and bridging gaps. In short, all the
components of being a Jewish cross-country coach at a
Catholic High School. Author Marc Bloom was that
coach. Today we hear an audio excerpt from his book
"God on the Starting Line." This podcast is brought
to you by Thoroughly Kneaded Muscle Therapy.
It's called "The World’s Most Challenging Human Endurance Competition". It's Primal Quest. And while some of the best adventure racers on the planet are gearing up for the big event, the creators of Primal Quest have created some shorter races to attract novices. Today on Endurance Planet we hear from Primal Quest CEO Don Mann.

Our audio excerpt this week comes from the Breakaway
Books compilation "The Runner's High...Illumination
and Ecstasy in Motion." It's a story called "Strange
Fits of Passion" about a young man whose run down a
hillside takes him to a place he's never been before.
He's been labeled "The World's Fittest Man." His
accomplishments are chronicled in The Guinness Book of
World Records. And Joe Decker has run just about every
ultramarathon you can think of...except the Barkley.
Today on Endurance Planet we hear from Decker about
the lofty goal he hopes to achieve in just a few
weeks. Only six people out of more than six hundred have
finished Barkley. You may recall Endurance Planet
chronicled a couple attempts at the feat in these
Breakaway Fridays: 3/9/07 and 3/30/07. Check out the archives!
