I met Mr. Stone when he was in his 80’s. He gave me a copy of his book “the hells of the bunion Derby” and it was quite a read. At the particular point in time we met, Mr. Stone had a heavy equipment business down in the West End of Louisville, KY. In his warehouse you could buy just about everything a commercial machine shop might use. He mammoth drill presses, forges, lathes.. I was a young hard-charging businessman and he did various things for me. He built my first heavy duty camera stand. It was huge and it was precisely square. I was in a perpetual state of exhaustion due to the demands of my workload and will always remember him for a piece of advice he gave me. He said, “Young man, be careful to always take care of the old man inside of you”. What person he was and I am so glad he was part of my life for some time!
